Police in Tonawanda are investigating the murder of a resident of a nursing home. He was discovered outside the facility on Tuesday morning, police stated Friday.
Police said that Judith Schrecengost (78) was a resident of Safire Rehabilitation of Northtowns senior center, which is located at 2799 Sheridan Drive.
Police were called on Tuesday morning at 9:35 AM. Police said that the woman had been found dead at the nursing home. Police said that the family was notified.
When The Buffalo News reached out to her granddaughter, she declined to comment on behalf the family.
To investigate the death, police are working closely with the state Attorney General's Office.

A spokesperson for the State Health Department stated Wednesday that they were aware of a death at Safire Rehabilitation of Northtowns nursing facility.
According to a spokesperson, the Health Department has launched its own investigation.
The State Health Department fined the same nursing home $12,000 in December for failing to keep residents from its dining room during the Covid-19 pandemic.
